Well as a matter of fact I did! Started off in the morning tuning a 1960 Cable Piano Co spinet. It was almost exactly an entire note flat. It had not been tuned in many years, so I gave it a pitch raise. The pins were tight and I pulled it up where it needs to be. I'll let it sit for a couple months to adjust to the new tension. I'll go back and do a standard tuning and I think it should be pretty good at that point.
Then in the afternoon, I had a job at the St. Louis Ballpark Hilton. Beautiful 6' 1" Yamaha G3 grand piano. But, it is in a public space and has some war wounds. The harp looked like it has seen quite a few spills.
I spent an hour and a half pulling the action, giving it a deep cleaning and it turned out pretty good I'd say.
I use Cory products on the exterior and the keys. Key Brite on the keys cleans them up great. Their Pre-Polish cleaner and Piano Polish make a glossy black piano really shine. Gets rid of all the finger prints.
But, there's more! Someone had pushed the music stand back and the support broke off one of the dampers. I removed the damper and I'll fabricate a new damper wire in my shop. Then I'll go back and finish the job for a June wedding. Mother of the bride asked me to get it tuned up and ready to go. Stay tuned for the rest of the story in an upcoming blog post!
